Position Overview

At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), we are looking for a driven and customer-focused Sales Representative to help grow our business and strengthen client partnerships. From the first handshake to the final signature, you’ll ensure all sales documents are organized, requirements are met, and no detail is overlooked. Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  1. Customer Relationship Management        
  • Maintain regular contact with assigned customers to monitor job progress and identify new opportunities.
  • Develop new customer relationships within assigned territories.
  • Attend project meetings and manage projects through proactive communication, vendor coordination, and collaboration with warehouse and shipping teams.

 

  1. Bidding & Estimating           
  • Obtain construction plans and specifications promptly for accurate bid preparation.
  • Participate in take-offs and interpret specs to optimize bid opportunities.
  • Review and submit accurate, timely bids that meet both customer and company standards.
  • Follow up on bid results and negotiate to secure awarded projects.

 

  1. Vendor Coordination & Cost Management      
  • Build strong vendor relationships and source competitive pricing to enhance bid competitiveness and margins.
  • Monitor billing and costing regularly, addressing gross margin issues proactively.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with key vendors to resolve service issues and stay informed on products and training opportunities.

 

  1. Jobsite & Project Oversight  
  • Visits jobsites as needed to attend meetings, check progress of work, or to diagnose and resolve problems.

 

  1. Internal Collaboration & Mentorship
  • Attend sales meetings to evaluate market opportunities and align on assignments.
  • Support the development of team members by coordinating tasks, identifying issues, and providing coaching.

 

  1. Continuous Learning & Compliance
  • Stay current on door, hardware products, and building codes through ongoing education (e.g., DHI).
  • Proactively identify and resolve customer or internal issues related to sales activities.

 

  1. Inventory & Operational Support
  • Participates in physical inventories by counting or verifying assigned areas.

 

  1. Safety  
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Use proper lifting techniques.
  • Adheres to all driving regulations based on state and/or jurisdiction policies such as wearing a seatbelt.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, safety shoes and clothing.

 

  1. Trainings
  • Must attend all required meetings in relation to sales and all company required training programs.

 

  1. Physical Requirements
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment operation, grasping and manipulation. 
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying approximately 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting procedures.
  • Occasional driving or sitting in a truck, forklift or other similar equipment.
  • Additional physical requirements may be needed as duties are assigned.

 

  1. Miscellaneous 
  • Support our values in the stated areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a construction-related environment
  • English language communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Good math aptitude
  • Some familiarity with industry specific software
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of commercial door and hardware products and building code requirements.
