Position Overview

At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), the Team Leader oversees, directs, and manages the day-to-day activities of their assigned Project Team. This role is responsible for ensuring that all projects are completed on time and on budget while maximizing profitability and supporting long-term customer satisfaction. Operating with significant autonomy, the Team Leader applies sound independent judgment, fosters team success, and drives operational excellence across all assigned work.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Oversight & Leadership
  • Oversee the Project Team’s short- and long-term goals, strategies, and daily workflow.
  • Assign projects to team members and ensure workloads are properly balanced.
  • Ensure project progress is accurately maintained within company software systems.
  • Review and mark up project contracts as required.
  • Provide guidance and leadership on critical project issues or escalated situations.
  • Take ownership of issues and drive resolution regardless of cross-departmental involvement.
  • Maintain overall team morale and cultivate a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Schedule and facilitate ongoing training for team development and skill enhancement.

 

  1. Financial Managemenet   
  • Assist with review and managing of all projects related company reports as required 
  • Assist with creation of purchase orders and follows release procedures for all material
  • Assist with creation of change orders and ICO’s per company guidelines

 

  1. Technical Review & Submittals
  • Manage Project Team financials and review performance with Management to ensure profitability.
  • Develop corrective action plans to address major financial or operational issues.
  • Coordinate customer payments and autonomously negotiate/manage change orders and back charges.
  • Review purchase order releases as needed.
  • Negotiate project closeouts with Management approval when appropriate.
  • Identify and create financial opportunities that benefit the company and collaborate cross-functionally to execute them.

 

  1. Communication & Relationship Management
  • Manage all internal and external communications to ensure timely and accurate responses.
  • Strengthen and maintain professional relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Escalate critical internal or external issues when necessary.

 

  1. Operation Efficiency
  • Ensure project construction schedules are created, monitored, and maintained within company software.
  • Ensure shipping schedules are properly utilized and updated.
  • Review and manage all project-related company reports.
  • Review and approve daily change orders to support proper process flow.
  • Seek continuous improvements in quality of work, processes, and profit margins.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for Project Team members.
  • Remain current with company and HR policies, including the employee handbook.
  • Effectively manage PTO requests for all team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

 

  1. Miscellaneous

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • College degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Two to four years of experience as a Senior Project Manager in the door and hardware industry or related trade.
  • Strong competency in computer software and product knowledge.
  • Moderate accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership ability with the capacity to motivate and build strong working relationships.
