Overview

Position Overview

At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), a Machinist, is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining numerical computer control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts. They interpret blueprints, select appropriate tools, and program the machines to cut, shape, and finish materials like metal or plastic. Machinist also monitor machine performance, inspect finished products for accuracy, and perform routine maintenance.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
CNC Machine Setup & Operation
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production specifications
  • Select appropriate tooling and materials for production requirements
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC machinery to cut, shape, and finish materials
  • Load raw materials and verify machine settings prior to production runs
 
Production Monitoring & Quality Control
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Inspect finished parts and components for conformance to specifications and quality standards
  • Utilize measuring instruments and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy
  • Identify and report defects, non-conformances, or production issues
 
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on CNC equipment
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and operational issues
  • Make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal machine performance and production quality
  • Escalate significant equipment concerns to management or maintenance personnel as needed
 
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and manufacturing standards
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Adhere to all quality assurance and operational procedures
 
Additional Responsibilities & Miscellaneous
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing department
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Manufacturing and company objectives
 
 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred
  • Knowledge of CNC machine setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments and performing basic mathematical calculations
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality standards
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 40 pounds

Compensation
The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
  • Base: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
